Ever since I was a little kid, I have enjoyed telling stories. It wasn’t just the relaying of information, but the immersion into another time, another realm that intrigued me about storytelling. It didn’t matter if it was answering a simple question or relaying a historical fact, I always had to make it into a story. I wrote my first “story” when I was 8 years old. I had typed it out on our old metal typewriter. By the time I was 12 I had written my first book, again on a typewriter, and had even designed the cover page. Because I didn’t really have any production or publication funds, I was only able to make one copy, and unfortunately, that single copy has been lost to time.
Over time I continued to tell stories, especially when camping, and even writing some down. However, it wasn’t till I suffered a major heart failure in 2012, that I finally focused my desire to truly write and publish a story. Within a year of receiving a pacemaker/defibrillator to keep me alive I started to write my first published book, Detriment.
I haven’t stopped writing since. It has not been easy, and I still have a long way to go, but I am grateful every day that I have this opportunity. It is a blessing I will never forget.

Though this story is fictional, it is greatly based upon actual events and stories as they were relayed by the survivors of Operation Dynamo.
In the story of the Great Boat Race, you will follow the stories of a father and son who must ask themselves if they are willing to sacrifice their lives for the sake of a nation. You will also follow a British BEF soldier, a French civilian and a German Panzer commander, as they all are faced with the complexing and difficult question of honor to Nation and to self. At what point are the lives of other more important than your own. Better yet, when is the life of a stranger worth more than the lives of your children, your family?
